Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was finally rated Thursday, giving impatient fans hope that an official release date is on the horizon.
The newest installment in the long-running franchise was rated T for Teen, citing the inclusion of animated blood and violence. Think of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond as the Grand Theft Auto 6 to Nintendo fans, one of the year’s most-anticipated games with no hint of a release date.
The game was announced during a Nintendo Direct livestream earlier this year and hasn’t been spoken about since this week. The upcoming game, which will be available for both the Switch and Switch 2, is poised to be nostalgic for older fans and thrilling for the older generation.

It’s a first-person shooting/action game that gives players the power of telekineses for the first time. We’ve seen only a few minutes of gameplay, so this mechanic hasn’t been explained too much yet.
The game’s sci-fi feel and great visuals of exploding aliens are enhanced on the Nintendo Switch 2, which is capable of 4K graphics. The gameplay has also been tweaked. The player has to think on their feet as waves of aliens can attack from all sides, a big change from the linear level model used in previous games.
One Gameshub journalist who previewed the titles said combat requires contact head rolling looking left, right, up and down.
Others have said Metro Prime 4: Beyond instills a sense of dread that usually comes from horror games. One minute you could be stamping through thick vines on a leafy planet and the next a swarm of alien reptiles attack you. Maybe its the first-person view.
The gunplay is out of this world, so I hear. The game can be enjoyed in multiple ways from the standard position with one Joy-Con in each hand to gyro-based targeting which lets the player live aim at enemies while using the other hand to fire. You can also use one Joy-Con as a mouse to emulate playing on a PC if you’re into that kind of thing.

The UI is one of the most immersive I’ve ever seen. Samus’ high-tech visor can identify potential threats, auto-target multiple enemies and pinpoint weaknesses. The 4K graphics and 60 frames per second make this game look absolutely gorgeous.
The fact Nintendo has upgraded its hardware to match the visuals of Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X is amazing and a bit surprising. No One is complaining though.
