New evidence seems to suggest the victim overdosed on drugs, presumably cocaine, which contradicts police’s initial post-mortem examination
New information about the final hours of a Manhattan-based swimwear designer who died mysteriously on a yacht is raising new doubts, according to reports.
Just after midnight on August 5, authorities found Irishwoman Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra’s body aboard a boat at the Montauk Yacht Club, located in the Hamptons on the Long Island peninsula. The cause of death was still unknown.
On August 4, the 33-year-old met with Christopher Durnan late at night at the marina, the DailyMail reported. According to the oulet, the 60-year-old insurance executive had invested $200,000 to Nolan-O’Slatarra’s brand.
She reportedly called her boyfriend, Nicholas DiRubio, just hours before she died, saying she would fetch a ride on Uber and be home at approximately 1 a.m.
Witnesses told the Daily Mail that at around midnight, Durnan was spotted running along the dock nude and screaming for assistance before onlookers boarded the boat in an unsuccessful attempt to perform CPR. The DailyMail published photos which appeared to depict a white powder dusting on one of the yacht’s seats.
Sources told the Mail that Nolan-O’Slatarra most likely overdosed on drugs, presumably cocaine, even though police stated that an initial post-mortem examination “did not show evidence of violence and her final cause of death is pending further investigation.”
A second autopsy that would include toxicology and histology tests has been requested by her family, who are being represented by criminal defense lawyer Arthur Aidala.
While toxicology tests are being conducted, Suffolk County homicide detectives are spearheading the investigation; however, it is estimated that the results may not be available for three months. People are still being questioned, Aidala told the DailyMail.
