Now 51 years old (as inferred from her 1974 birth year), Poterbin was a model, dancer, and television personality. One of her biggest roles? Hosting the Slovenian version of Wheel of Fortune.
NBA fans were first introduced to Poterbin on draft night in 2018, when she embraced Luka after he was selected third overall. That moment went viral, introducing her to millions of basketball fans around the world.

Her Journey to the U.S. and Luka’s Side
Poterbin and Luka’s father, Sasa Doncic, a former Slovenian professional basketball player, divorced in 2008. For years, she remained a major influence in Luka’s life, even acting as his business manager.
However, a reported falling-out led to a temporary separation between mother and son. That rift has since been repaired, and Poterbin ultimately moved to the U.S. to be closer to Luka during his rise with the Dallas Mavericks.

When the blockbuster trade that sent Luka from Dallas to the Lakers shocked the NBA world, Poterbin wasted no time embracing her son’s new team.
